Adjustment of Saving and Current Account Status

Based on the Financial Services Authority Regulation (POJK) No.24 of 2025 regarding Account Management at Commercial Banks, OJK introduces a new classification regarding the status of Savings and Current accounts. This classification is determined based on the Customer's activity in the account in a certain period. The requirements under the said POJK will be implemented gradually by PT Bank HSBC Indonesia (“Bank”) as from 8 May 2026. For your information, types of account status under such regulation are as listed in the following table:

Account Activation Method

Active

Accounts with deposit (cash and transfers between own accounts), withdrawal (directly), or balance enquiry activity through Bank’s channels (example: HSBCNet).

Not applicable.

Inactive

Accounts with no deposit (cash and transfers between own accounts), withdrawal (directly), or balance enquiry activity through Bank’s channels (example: HSBCNet) for more than 360 calendar days (or equivalent to 12 months for this purpose).

Submit reactivation of Inactive Account form through Bank’s branch.

Dormant

Accounts with no deposit (cash and transfers between own accounts), withdrawal (directly), or balance enquiry activity through Bank’s channels (example: HSBCNet) for more than 1.800 calendar days (or equivalent to 60 months for this purpose).

Submit reactivation of Dormant Account form through Bank’s branch and carry out Customer Due Diligence (CDD).

Important:

  • Saving and Current Accounts regardless of the account status referred to above, will be automatically closed if it has a zero balance for 6 (six) months or more.
  • Activities generated by the Bank’s system, such as interest payments, tax deductions, administrative fees, and auto-debit based on standing instructions, are not considered deposit or withdrawal activities that maintain active account status.
  • To keep account remains active, Customer require to perform following activities:

    • Cash Deposit at Bank’s branch;
    • Cash Withdrawal at Bank’s branch;
    • Transfer between own accounts in the Bank
    • Balance enquiry performs regularly.

    Customers also must ensure data update accurately and correctly.
